This project contains all necessary files to replicate the results of "Measuring Remittances" (De Arcangelis, Fertig, Liang, Srouji & Yang 2022).

The folder structure is organized as follows:

1. code - Contains all Stata do-files needed to clean raw data, perform analysis, and export all tables and figures found in the paper.

2. data - Contains cleaned datasets used in the analysis. The primary dataset is called "merged_remittances_WIDE.dta", which contains survey data, Padalapp data, and administrative records for all respondents in the study sample. These datasets are generated by the included do-files.

3. output - All tables and figures from the paper are found here (though formatting is slightly different than the published version). These files are generated by the included do-files.

4. raw - This folder holds all the raw data from baseline/endline surveys, the Padalapp smartphone app, and administrative records from UAE Exchange. These files are cleaned and merged together in the do-file "1.clean_data.do", producing the primary dataset used for analysis ("merged_remittances_WIDE.dta").
