Project Description
This file contains cleaned charitable giving variables from the PSID’s Philanthropy Module, 2015 wave. Plus some basic demographics. The objective is to make it easier for users, not familiar with the PSID, to begin their projects by having some important variables already cleaned.
There is not documentation specifically for the 2015 wave, but the format follows exactly previous waves; see the 2007 documentation.
Acknowledgement of funding sources
Because the creation of these data is expensive, it is appropriate to thank the Foundations that made collecting the data possible, and to acknowledge the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy’s continued commitment to the project. Expressing gratitude in your paper’s acknowledgement statement helps the IU Lilly Family School secure funding to continue the collection of the PSID’s philanthropy data into the future.
Major support that enabled the collection of the Philanthropy Panel Study data was provided by:
The John Templeton Foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation
Fidelity Charitable Investments
and The Atlantic Philanthropies.
The Philanthropy Panel Study was launched in 2001 with cornerstone support provided by The Atlantic Philanthropies.
Other financial support has come from institutional friends, faculty, and staff of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
Thank you all.
