Using both administrative and survey data, we construct new series on prenuptial agreements
and marital property regimes in France from 1855 to 2010. We use different administrative data sources for the 1855-1972 period and we use survey data for the 1972-2010 period. These data allow us to document the evolution of the prevalence of prenuptial agreements but also to document the prevalence of different marital property regimes in France over the period.
